A first look at Jose Mourinho's Real 2.0 

Following a season of unrest at the Bernabéu, where they went through two managers and experienced dressing-room unrest, the club turned back to what they know. 

With Florentino Perez re- elected as President, he led the charge to reappoint Jose Mourinho as boss, 13 years after his first stint in the Spanish capital. 

The hope is for Mourinho to install some structure and discipline into the squad, given he is no stranger to dealing with the game's biggest names. 

He will be tasked with once again going toe-to-toe with Barcelona and trying to wrestle back control of the Spanish title after the Catalans' back-to-back La Liga wins. 

These three games will be the first chance to see how the 63-year-old is setting up his side before the start of the new term.

What happened in Mourinho's first spell? 

There was never a dull moment during Mourinho's first spell in charge of Real Madrid, back in 2010. 

He arrived in Spain having just won the treble with Inter, and was part of an eventful three years at the Bernabeu. 

There was success. In his first season, the club won the Copa del Rey - beating Barcelona in the final - and he followed that up with a La Liga win in 2012. 

Unfortunately, things unravelled in his third campaign, where his presence split the fans. After some high-profile fallings out with star names, some felt it was time for Mourinho to move on, while some sections stuck with their manager. 

In the end, though, he left his post in 2013 and headed back to Chelsea for a second spell as boss of the Premier League side.

Real Madrid friendlies - Who and what to look out for?

There are plenty of new names to look out for Real Madrid, and some could feature in these games after their post-World Cup holidays. 

The club have reshaped their backline, with the signings of Ibrahima Konate, Marc Cucurella and Denzel Dumfries; all should play some part in the latter two fixtures. 

Bernardo Silva is also another high-profile name who could make his first outing in the famous white shirt. 

As for a returning name, Endrick is back with the squad following his loan spell with Lyon last season. 

There could also be some minutes for the club's heavy hitters, including Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Jr and Kylian Mbappe.
