Who are the Serie A title contenders for 2026-27?
Watch Serie A on DAZN in the UK and Ireland

The Serie A returns later this month, with another unpredictable season expected from Italy's top flight.

You can catch all the action on DAZN, where every week in 2026-27 all ten matches will be live, seven of which are exclusive to the DAZN platform.

One of the biggest reasons to watch is the prospect of another fascinating title race at the top of the league.

Inter go in as reigning champions having won a league and cup double last term, but no side has managed to retain the Scudetto since 2020, leaving the door wide open for challengers to the Nerazzurri.

DAZN News looks at which teams are in the running for this season's Serie A championship.

National League

Inter

  • Last season: 1st
  • Manager: Cristian Chivu
  • Key man: Lautaro Martínez

After a tight start in Serie A last season it was Inter who took charge of the title race at the turn of the year, and they never really looked like being stopped.

It was quite the feather in his cap for boss Cristian Chivu in his first season at the San Siro, who bested the experience of Antonio Conte and Massimiliano Allegri to win the Scudetto.

Can Inter now do it again? They will certainly be the team to beat, having kept their winning squad together and added more experience in the shape of John Stones to their backline.

With an attack that still boasts Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram, they won't be short of goals; it feels like you'll need to finish above the Nerazzurri to have any chance of lifting the title.

Napoli

  • Last season: 2nd
  • Manager: Massimiliano Allegri
  • Key man: Scott McTominay

Napoli may have finished as runners-up last year, but it was quite the distance second from Inter, as they finished a full eleven points behind the champions and never really looked like mounting a serious defence of their title.

As a consequence, Antonio Conte has departed and next off the Serie A managerial merry-go-round is Massimiliano Allegri, who spent last season at Milan, but failed to secure them a Champions League berth.

Allegri has plenty of form at the top end, having won Scudettos with Juventus, but can he prove he still has what it takes in Naples after not convincing many at the Rossoneri last year.

With no major new arrivals yet either, Napoli will have to have some season to see them crowned champions again.

Juventus

  • Last season: 6th
  • Manager: Luciano Spalletti
  • Key man: Kenan Yildiz

Juventus never really looked like mounting a serious title challenge last year after such a stuttering start under Igor Tudor, and then Luciano Spalletti failed to find the right consistency from the Old Lady.

Now with a full pre-season under his belt to shape Juventus in his mould, the Turin club's first focus will be a return to the Champions League, but that's not to rule them out of anything more.

They still have a squad which contains the delightful talents of Kenan Yildiz and Francisco Conceição, and have added more firepower with the return of Randal Kolo Muani.

If they can find a cutting edge that was their Achilles' heel last term, then they could well be in the mix this season.

AC Milan

  • Last season: 5th
  • Manager: Ruben Amorim
  • Key man: Christian Pulisic

Easily the most fascinating team going into the new season as Ruben Amorim gets the chance to prove himself all over again in a top European role and show that the Manchester United job was just a huge blot on his copybook.

It's certainly shaken up the managerial scene in Serie A, with a new name at the table, and one that could rival Inter at the top of the league.

The signing of Goncalo Ramos is a huge one, as he could be the number nine that the Rossoneri have long craved and couldn't find last term.

With Luka Modric back for another last dance, too, there's plenty to like about this Milan side, but how will it look under the guise of the Portuguese boss?
