Brazil's last minute winner joins these famous World Cup late, late shows

There's nothing quite like the feeling of scoring a last-minute winner in football, so to do it on the biggest stage of them all, at a World Cup, is a moment to savour for any team and the player responsible. 

Monday night saw Brazil enjoy their last-gasp euphoria as Gabriel Martinelli scored in the 95th minute to break Japanese hearts and send Carlo Ancelotti's men into the last sixteen. 

The Arsenal man joins a club that has seen some of the biggest moments in World Cup history, where a single goal has changed the landscape of not just the game, but the competition too. 

Who could forget David Platt's incredible volley against Belgium that sent England through in the last minute of extra time at Italia 90? Or, Robbie Keane slaying the Germans with a winner for the Republic of Ireland in 2002. 

Then there's Fabio Grosso sending Italy to the World Cup Final of 2006 with a late winner against Germany, and perhaps most satisfying of all, Dennis Bergkamp's classic against Argentina in 1998, which goes down as one of the greatest the competition has ever seen and came in the dying embers of the quarter-final. 

In a competition always fuelled with drama, the added spice of a late winning goal can rarely be beaten.
