Bills WR D.J. Moore wins over Buffalo fans before even making his debut

A sports clothing store in Buffalo had a stranger walk in and empty its entire collection of D.J. Moore-branded Bills jerseys before telling the staff to give them to fans for free.
It turns out that person was the wide receiver himself, acquired by the Buffalo Bills this offseason in a trade with the Chicago Bears.
Here's how this bizarre yet endearing story unfolded.
How the store reacted to Moore's gesture
While on a shopping trip with his family, the Bills wideout spotted 27 of his No. 2 jerseys, handed over $1,200, and gave the staff a simple instruction: hand them out to whoever came asking for a D.J. Moore shirt.
At first, assistant manager Scot Marshall had no idea he was talking to an NFL receiver, asking Moore, "Do you know the guy or work for him?"
By his own account, Marshall said it wasn't until Moore was departing the store that it dawned on him who he was.
Moore already fitting the Buffalo mould
Some cynics have taken to social media to point out that $1,200 is a drop in the ocean for Moore, considering the several million he has and will make over the course of his career.
Everyone else, however, has seen the gesture for what it is: the latest example of a veteran player doing the right thing for the community and fans.
The overwhelmingly positive response saw Bills supporters joined by Moore's former teams, the Panthers and Bears, in sharing their thanks.
"He was an epic member of the community as a #Panthers player, not expecting anything less," said one.
"That was very nice of DJ Moore to do that. That's what it's about. Give it back to the community," said another, before adding, "I really think this year DJ Moore is gonna ball out because now he has a quarterback."
The quarterback they are referring to is, of course, the 2024 MVP and two-time All-Pro Josh Allen, and the reason Moore gave for why he's so excited to join the Bills.

Catching passes from Allen means Moore has every opportunity to enjoy a bounceback year, add to his 8,213 receiving yards, and perhaps even enjoy a career-best season.
Whether that proves to be true or not, the early impression he's left off the field is already a positive one.
