Aaron Donald will not travel to Australia with the Rams on Wednesday, per Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport.
Los Angeles is planning to give the three-time DPOY more time so he can make his much-anticipated return to the NFL.
Donald's next chance to play would be in two weeks' time when the Rams will host the Giants for Monday Night Football.
While we've seen a Donald-less defense in Los Angeles for a couple of years now, the new pairing with Myles Garrett was one of the most expected of the season.
The Rams will still count on players such as Garrett, Byron Young and Kobie Turner on their defense as they fly to Melbourne to face the 49ers this Thursday.
Donald's impact in Los Angeles
Two years ago, Donald announced his retirement after feeling he had achieved everything he could in the sport and no longer having the passion for it.
Fast forward to this August, the defensive tackle signed a one-year, $20 million contract to come back to Los Angeles after participating in a couple of workouts with the team.
Throughout his initial stint with the Rams from 2014 to 2025, Donald achieved every accolade imaginable except MVP or Super Bowl MVP.
Among his awards, Donald was selected for the Pro Bowl 10 times, made the First Team All-Pro eight times, won three DPOYs, DRPOY and was the Super Bowl LVI champion.
Donald was drafted by the Rams with the No. 13 overall pick of the 2014 draft after four years with the Pittsburgh Panthers.
During his last year in Los Angeles, the defensive tackle had 53 combined tackles and eight sacks.
