Josh Allen is a joy to behold when he is on top of his game. His physical attributes and his gunslinging nature have thrilled Buffalo fans for years and made the Bills a perennial contender.

Where was Josh Allen selected in the NFL Draft?
Allen threw for more than 5,000 yards in 26 starts for Wyoming, adding 44 touchdowns through the air. He also ran for 12 touchdowns.
A highly coveted prospect in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills selected Allen with their seventh overall pick after trading up from their 12th overall selection with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
NFL career so far
Allen endured an uneven start to his NFL career, completing only 52.8% of his passing attempts and throwing more interceptions (12) than touchdowns (10) in his rookie year.
Despite showing improvement in his second year, many analysts were still unsure whether he had what it took to become the Bills' long-term franchise quarterback.
Allen responded to the criticism in a way that left no room for doubt when, in 2020, he enjoyed an incredible breakout season. In that year, he threw for 4,544 yards and 37 touchdowns, rushed for 421 yards and eight touchdowns, and led the Bills to the AFC Championship Game since 1993.
In the years since, Allen has continued to post incredible numbers as a dual-threat quarterback, broken numerous records, and was named the league's MVP in 2024.
In May 2025, the Bills rewarded the 29-year-old with a new $330 million extension, including $250 million in guarantees.
Career outlook
Despite leading the Bills to the postseason every year since 2019, the only thing missing from Allen's list of achievements is also the most important - a Vince Lombardi trophy.
The Bills have enjoyed deep playoff runs, including in the 2024/25 season when they fell to the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game, but they must deliver on expectations as one of the favourites to win Super Bowl LX, or win at least one Super Bowl before the end of Allen's career if he is to cement his legacy among the great quarterbacks in NFL history.
