Abdullah Mason and Albert Bell are former training partners. Now, they are foes.
Mason and Bell square off on Saturday night in the main event of "The Fight" from Cleveland, live worldwide on DAZN and TNT Sports for the WBO lightweight title.
Before they step into the ring, Mason and Bell saw each other one last time at Friday's weigh-in.
The challenger was up first and weighed 134.9 pounds. The 22-year-old Mason came up next and tipped the scales at 135 pounds. They had a friendly but intense staredown and then went their separate ways.
Bell (29-0, 9 KOs), a late replacement as he replaced Joe Cordina, is confident that he's got enough tools in the toolbox to head out of Mason's hometown with the gold.
"I just feel I’m one of the best in the world," Bell told DAZN's Chris Mannix at the weigh-in. "I want to fight anybody that’s one of the best in the world. So it don’t matter who it is. I’m thankful for the opportunity.”
Mason (20-0, 17 KOs) returns to "The Land" for his first title defense after capturing the vacant WBO belt in November over Sam Noakes in one of the best fights of 2025. He's ready to put on a show for the people of Cleveland.
"I’m excited," Mason told Mannix. "It’s going to be big for Cleveland. I got an appetite for smoke, so I’m going to put on a show.
"We’re going to step in the ring, and whoever's skills are better will show. I believe that will be me, and I’m coming to come out on top with the win."
