Could boxing's youngest world champion rise to the occasion in front of his hometown fans on Saturday night when Abdullah Mason defended the WBO lightweight title for the first time against late replacement Albert Bell in front of 10,101 people inside the Wolstein Center in Cleveland, live worldwide on DAZN and TNT in the United States?
It took Mason seven rounds to get going as he was down on the scorecards. But Mason began listening to his corner, started pounding the body, which changed the complexion of the fight. That resulted in a knockdown at the beginning of the 12th round, and then he scored another one moments later. That was enough for referee Mark Nelson to stop the fight at the 0:45 mark to retain the WBO lightweight title. DAZN News had the fight scored 105-104 for Mason going into the final round.
