Andre Ward or Jake Paul? Former world heavyweight champion reveals who he thinks is the harder fight for Anthony Joshua

After losing to Daniel Dubois in September last year, Joshua has been linked to several comeback fights, with Tyson Fury appearing to be the most likely opponent due to the pair’s lengthy rivalry. 

In recent weeks, the contenders have made their presence felt with Jake Paul and Andre Ward declaring an interest in taking on the popular Brit. 

Paul does not possess high-level experience, and Ward has been retired since 2017, but both men appear confident that they have what it takes to upset Joshua. 

Another name speculated is 2016 Olympic champion, Tony Yoka, who has recently signed with Frank Warren, and that would make an interesting spectacle with both fighters gold medallists. 

Andy Ruiz, the first man to beat Joshua when he stopped him in New York City in 2019, has had his say on his former rival, and he believes Jake Paul would be a harder fight than Ward. 

“Everybody wants to fight Anthony Joshua because of the blueprint that he has now,” said Ruiz when speaking to Fighthype.  

“I feel like everybody thinks they can beat him. He can’t take hits no more, but he’s still a dangerous fighter. He’s a heavyweight. 

“I don’t know about Andre Ward fighting Anthony Joshua. I think that’s a hard fight. Jake Paul, I think that’s actually a little better.”
