Josh Kelly sealed his world title dream with a hard-fought triumph over Bakhram Murtazaliev on Saturday night, dethroning the IBF light-middleweight champion in Newcastle.
The local hero made the most of home advantage to press the incumbent title holder at the Utilita Arena and secured an early knockdown as he worked the edge of the ring.
Murtazaliev returned fire with his own body blows as the contest wore on and looked to have possibly done enough in the back half to pull momentum back on his side.
But Kelly did enough to win over the judges, claiming the crown by majority decision and joining Britain's growing crop of male world title holders heading into the rest of 2026.
