Ben Whittaker, Adam Azim and more - Five British boxing prospects fans need to know about
Watch Whittaker vs. Cameron live Oct. 12 on DAZN

One of British boxing's most electric personalities, Ben Whittaker, returns to action this weekend as he continues to rise through the light heavyweight ranks.

He will be making an appearance on the Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol undercard, live on DAZN, where he faces off with fellow Brit Liam Cameron.

Whittaker might be only nine fights into his career as a professional, but he is already making a name for himself thanks to his antics outside the ring and performances in it.

But it is not only him who is leading the way for British boxing prospects. Here, DAZN profiles some of the other names fans should keep a close eye on.

Whittaker vs. Cameron fight card

  • Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol
  • Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Kamil Szeremeta
  • Fabio Wardley vs. Frazer Clarke
  • Jai Opetaia vs. Jack Massey
  • Ben Whittaker vs. Liam Cameron
  • Skye Nicolson vs. Raven Chapman
  • Mohammaed Alakel vs. Jesus Gonzalez

Adam Azim

Adam Azim has achieved a lot considering he is just 11 fights into his professional career.

In his seventh bout, he beat Franck Petitjean in 2023 to become European super lightweight champion and made a successful defence earlier this year against Enock Poulsen.

Now he is busy preparing for his toughest test to date on October 19 when he faces the experienced Ohara Davies in another major tussle.

If Azim manages to get his hand raised, 2025 could be a huge year, with a world title shot likely to present itself sooner rather than later.

But if there is one all-British dust up that fight fans are eager to see, it is a showdown with Sheffield's Dalton Smith.

Moses Itauma

Heavyweight Moses Itauma is already being labelled as a future world heavyweight champion.

Making his professional debut in January 2023, the Slovakian-born contender has been very active since, winning all 10 of his professional fights.

Already in 2024, he has fought three times, stopping the experienced Marisusz Wach in the second round of their contest at London's The O2 Arena in July.

If Itauma continues this upward trajectory, a major title fight could come his way in 2025, possibly against another homegrown rival for him to contend with.

Perhaps the winner of the eagerly anticipated British heavyweight title rematch between Fabio Wardley and Frazer Clarke could be next for the teenager?

Cameron Vuong

Cameron Vuong is a British prospect who has already captured the imagination of his promoter Eddie Hearn.

The Northumberland fighter stopped Engel Gomez in the fourth round of his professional debut last year, with his effort one that caught the eye of the Matchroom boss.

Hearn admitted that he had to have a photo with Vuong inside the ring after what he labelled a 'special' performance, something the promoter rarely does.

Since then, Voung has built up a 6-0 (3 KOs) record, but his next fight will be a significant step up against European lightweight champion Gavin Gwynne.

The two will meet on the undercard of Sunny Edwards vs. Galal Yafai on November 30, which is set to be broadcast live on DAZN.

Galal Yafai

With an impressive amateur resume and an Olympic gold medal, Galal Yafai has a headstart on a number of British rivals in the professional ranks.

With an 8-0 record (6 KOs) bolstered by a number of eye-catching performances, he already appears to be on the fast track towards a world title shot at flyweight.

However, a major obstacle lingers in the way, in the shape of a showdown against rival and ex-IBF flyweight champion Sunny Edwards on November 30, live on DAZN.

If Yafai is able to topple a former world champion, it will be a huge statement to the rest of the flyweight division.

Victory will likely result in the Birmingham man challenging for major honours in 2025.

Ben Whittaker

Ben Whittaker is a fighter who has become a marmite figure in British boxing.

He is someone who is not afraid to speak his mind whilst also willing to showboat inside the ring whenever his opponents are struggling to compete with his superior ability.

Whittaker's recent exploits have led to him being compared to the legendary Prince Naseem Hamed which is a lot of pressure to be resting on the 27-year-old's shoulders.

But judging by how he has conducted himself in his past eight fights, Whittaker is taking this in his stride.

If he manages to beat Liam Cameron this October, there will be a desire from fans to see him challenge the stalwarts of the British light heavyweight scene including Anthony Yarde, Craig Richards and Joshua Buatsi.

If any of those three fights do materialise, it will be the moment of truth as to whether Whitttaker really is a force to be reckoned with.
