Ben Whittaker could be in the sights of Zak Chelli, with the latter admitting he would be happy to meet in the professional ranks.
'The Surgeon' makes his stateside debut this weekend on the Xander Zayas-Jaron Ennis undercard on DAZN Pay-Per-View.
Chelli, meanwhile, is coming off a career-best win after he upset David Morrell last month to bolster his light-heavyweight standing.
Now, the star has admitted he would relish a rematch with Whittaker after their amateur days, having been pipped for Team GB.
"I don’t see him as competition, but he is the big name out there,” he told Sky Sports News' Toe2Toe. "What are we boxing for?
"We’re boxing for money, boxing for fame, boxing for the belts. If that name gets brought towards me, I’ll be happy to take it.
"We had a sparring session at Team GB for the Commonwealth Games. I dropped him in sparring, but he still got picked.
“He’s a big name, he’s flashy, and he’s entertaining to watch. That’s what it’s about. It’s an entertainment business."
Xander Zayas defends his WBO and WBA super welterweight titles against Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis on Saturday, June 27, exclusively live on DAZN. Buy as a one-off PPV or included, along with Joshua vs. Prenga (July 25) and Canelo vs. M'billi (Sept 12) PPVs, with a DAZN Ultimate Tier subscription.
