DAZN News rounds up the biggest boxing stories on Wednesday, August 12.
Edgar Berlanga believes a rematch between him and Canelo Alvarez could be a possibility, but the star admits he must earn a title first.
The former is working his way back towards the summit after a comeback victory over Steven Butler reignited his career this past month.
Now, Berlanga has told The Ring he is open to a second dance with the Mexican star, adding it is "another big fight [...] on the horizon."
But the star knows he needs more, stating: "I’ve got to win a title. I’ve got to beat a big name and then that fight is right there for us to make."
Richard Torrez Jr. hopes to return to the ring before 2026 is up, following on from his brutal defeat to Frank Sanchez in Giza back in May.
The American star, tipped as a future world title contender, was blown away by his opponent in Egypt to curtail his immediate ambitions.
But in a video posted to social media, Torrez has vowed to return stronger than ever and reaffirmed that he will be eyeing a boot soon enough.
"I'm not done," he said. "We’re going to go back to the drawing board. I’m working even harder. I’m trying to get back in there by the end of the year.”
Former WBA light-middleweight champion Abbas Baraou has agreed promotional matters with Top Rank as he targets titles again.
The German was dethroned by Xander Zayas in January, and has not fought since, but has now stepped up plans for his return.
“Signing with Top Rank is a huge step in my career,” Baraou was quoted by Boxing Scene on his decision to pen terms with them.
"I’ve always believed I belong on the biggest stage, and now I have the right team behind me to chase the biggest fights in boxing.
