Catterall issues Lopez demand
Jack Catterall has issued a call for Teofimo Lopez to honor his WBA welterweight mandatory challenge after the latter dethroned Rolando Romero.
The Briton was ordered to the American, who managed to dodge a bout by accepting the challenge of 'The Takeover' - which he subsequently lost.
Now, speaking on Inside the Ring, Catterall has congratulted Lopez but told him to stop talking up unification contests with Ryan Garcia and more.
"I’m good to go," he said. You had a nice touch of the weekend. Let’s get it on. We've got to reach a deal, or else you’ve got to pass over the belt.”
Azim eyes title path
Adam Azim is reportedly eyeing a path to the IBF super-lightweight title, with hopes to face either Lindolfo Delgado or Arthur Biyarslanov next year.
The Briton, currently fourth with the governing body, is chasing an opportunity to earn himself top international honours alongside rival Dalton Smith.
Now, Boxing News understands Azim will headline a BOXXER card in October or November before targeting the winner of Delgado-Biyarslanov.
Victory there could put him on a unification path with Smith, who is enjoying his own reign as WBC champion after earning his crown in January.
Noakes eyes Mason rematch
Sam Noakes hopes victory against Denys Berinchyk this weekend can pave the path towards a unification rematch with Abdullah Mason in the future.
The Briton was outgunned by the American in their WBO bout last November, but went closer than many anticipated against the latter in the ring too.
Set to face Berinchyk on the Moses Itauma-Filip Hrgovic undercard, Noakes knows victory can push him back to title contention - and his old rival.
"If I get another world title with another body, then that'll be the first thing I want to do," he told The Ring. "[I want to] unify against Abdullah Mason."
