Dubois offers Hrgovic respect

Daniel Dubois has plenty of respect for Filip Hrgovic, and believes that the Croatian will offer "a great dustup" against Moses Itauma next week.

The WBO champion, reportedly due to face Fabio Wardley in a rematch next, will have a vested interest in the latter pair's IBF heavyweight bout.

Having edged past Hrgovic in 2024 to tee up his first title reign, Dubois admits that the star is "a great fighter, tough, [an] animal type of guy.

"I think the whole division – the whole world – is going to be watching," he told Queensberry. "It’s a great dustup [so] let’s see what Moses can do."

Overeem calls on Usyk services

Ex-UFC star Alistair Overeem wants Oleksandr Usyk to train him for a bout with the latter's old rival and his fellow countryman Rico Verhoeven.

The onetime GLORY favourite has not fought since 2022, but is hopeful to set up an all-Dutch contest against the latter as he plots his return.

That could come in the shape of working with Usyk, with Overeem revealing he has visited the former undisputed champion at his Valencia base.

"There was good chemistry, good energy," he told All Out Fighting. "I was learning. If I could do my camp at Team Usyk, it would be my pleasure."

Mayer sanguine over Taylor miss

Mikaela Mayer acknowledges she missed her opportunity to face Katie Taylor, but the star is not particularly fussed that the ship has sailed either.

The former will face Chantelle Cameron this month, before the latter wraps up her career with a homecoming bout against Flora Pili in September.

Now, Mayer has reflected on the long-held expectation that the duo would meet - and acknowledges she perhaps could have pushed harder too.

“I always thought we would fight and I always wanted that fight," the star told Boxing Scene "And I think I just assumed it would always happen. "
