Fundora rated over 'Boots'

Sebastian Fundora would prove to be a tougher task for Vergil Ortiz Jr. over Jaron 'Boots' Ennis, claims star cornerman Robert Garcia.

The latter pair have been linked to a light-middleweight encounter since Ortiz wrapped up his legal stoush with Golden Boy Promotions.

But speaking on the Mr. Verzace Podcast, Garcia suggested it was another contender who could prove to be a harder customer instead.

"I think Fundora is tougher than Boots," he said. "Every fight I see he's getting better and better. Plus, he's the tallest guy probably in boxing."

Saunders eyes Eubank Jr.

Billy Joe Saunders has revealed that Chris Eubank Jr. would be his priority for a comeback, suggesting he could take out the star with ease.

The pair's long-running rivalry could be poised to resume, with the latter needing to deliver a bounce-back after his rematch loss to Conor Benn.

“The only person I would really come out for is clearly a Eubank fight,” the star told talkSPORT when discussing any incentive to return again.

Expanding, Saunders added: “That is it because I know I can go in without any warm-up and beat him, especially after his last performance."

Alvarado calls time on career

Felix Alvarado has confirmed he will retire from the ring, with the former IBF light-flyweight champion calling time on his decade-and-a-half career.

The star famously proved third-time lucky in his pursuit of world title glory, reigning between 2018 and 2022 before stepping up a division.

Unsuccessful attempts to gain the IBF flyweight crown, most recently against Masamichi Yabuki last December, have seen him now quit though 

"The moment I never expected has arrived," he told The Ring. "I can no longer compete at the highest level because my body isn't what it used to be."
