Inoue mandatory mooted by IBF

Naoya Inoue may need to take a mandatory challenge for his IBF super-bantamweight crown before any mega-bout with Jesse Rodriguez.

'The Monster' has been linked to a super-fight with 'Bam' since defeating rival Junto Nakatani last month in a Tokyo Dome showdown for the ages.

Now however, the IBF have reportedly ordered Ryosuke Nishida and Sam Goodman to meet in a final eliminator for the star's IBF strap.

The latter was due to previously challenge Inoue, but the Australian saw his encounter scotched after a string of injuries sustained in training.

Anber urges Itauma caution

Hall-of-Fame trainer Russ Anber has urged Moses Itauma's backers to not rush the development of the heavyweight star on his rise to the top.

The Briton returns this August against Filip Hrgovic, but while Anber admires the star's talents, he fears he could be fast-tracked too soon as well.

He's a hell of a special prospect," he told The Ring. "There are guys you look at and know they'll be there a long time winning a lot of fights.

"Regardless of how good you think he is, don't skip any steps, Trust the process, even if it takes a little while to get to where you want to be."

Allen turns down Taylor bill spot

Dave Allen has turned down an offer to fight on the undercard of Katie Taylor's farewell at Croke Park, as the heavyweight plots his next move.

'The White Rhino' returned to winning ways over the weekend against Ross McGuigan, taking a comfortable points win in a small-hall encounter.

But Allen will not be back out in Dublin, having knocked back a potential contest on the bill beneath Taylor's retirement encounter with Flora Pili.

Instead, the Doncaster star will consider other options as he builds towards a potential shot at the British title, according to Boxing Scene.
