Lopez passes Romero rematch
Teofimo Lopez Jr. has no interest in a Rolly Romero rematch after dethroning the latter as WBA welterweight champion in Las Vegas on Saturday.
The former earned three-weight status earned a majority decision that proved closer than many pundits expected after a dicey fifth-round contest.
But despite that, Lopez has no interest in revisiting another bout, even as Romero hopes for a second dance on a result he has called "political".
"Rolly didn't really do that much tonight [to earn a rematch]," he was quoted by The Ring when asked on whether the pair would meet again.
Hearn critical of White claims
Eddie Hearn has again criticised the involvement of Dana White in relation to Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua's super-bout as it hangs in the balance.
The Zuffa supremo has frequently been at loggerheads with the Matchroom boss, particularly amid an ongoing stand-off over a venue for the bout.
Hearn and Joshua have long wanted to hold the bout in the United Kingdom, with the former frustrated by the narrative spin around by his rival.
“I think the person who has really kiboshed this event is Dana because of his attitude," he was quoted by Boxing Scene on the potential contest.
Mayer sanguine over Taylor miss
Claressa Shields is open to a bout with Mikaela Mayer, but remains focused on securing a dance with Lauren Price after taking out Kaye Scott.
Back at middleweight, 'The GWOAT' is chasing the Briton for her next bout as she seeks another major scalp in the shape of her fellow Olympian.
But Shields remains open to a clash with Mayer too, telling Sky Sports News: "Anything is possible. I came down specifically to fight against Scott.
"Hopefully a big showdown [with] me and Lauren Price [is next. If the fight can't happen, I would love to get in the ring with Mikaela Mayer."
