Romero ices 'delusional' Garcia

Rolly Romero has blasted Ryan Garcia as "delusional", suggesting the WBC welterweight champion is a "wishy-washy" star instead.

The former handed the latter a stinging loss to earn the WBA belt last year, and though talk of a rematch followed, nothing came to pass.

As both men line up for tests against Teofimo Lopez and Conor Benn though, Romero has taken aim with The Ring at his ex-opponent.

"Ryan is the most wishy-washy fighter in boxing," he said. "How many people has he called out that he actually [fought]? The dude is delusional."

McCormack out of Liddard card

Rising welterweight Pat McCormack is out of the George Liddard-Dario Morello bill this weekend after suffering an undisclosed medical matter.

The Tokyo 2020 medalist has not fought since suffering a first pro defeat against Conah Walker last December in a late Monte Carlo stoppage.

Reports suggest his absence will not be a long one, with promoters Matchroom already eyeing a potential swift return to the ring for the star.

Yet it marks another frustration for McCormack, who has been beset by numerous injury issues that have halted his post-amateur progress.

Smith sets low-key return

Liam Smith will make his return to the ring next month against Ilari Kujala in a low-key contest in the latter's native Finland, ending his exodus.

'Beefy' has not fought since suffering a bruising defeat to Aaron McKenna on the undercard of Chris Eubank Jr.-Conor Benn in April last year.

It had been expected that the 38-year-old could well hang up his gloves since then, given his subsequent period of inactivity within the ring.

But now it appears he will fight at least one more time, with victory likely to ask questions over whether bigger bouts back home could await him.
