Claressa Shields shines in sixth-round knockout over Kaye Scott to regain middleweight titles

Shields (19-0, 4 KOs) continued to show everyone why she is on top of the food chain, adding new wrinkles to her arsenal, which resulted in battering Scott to score a sixth-round TKO at the 1:38 mark to regain the titles. 

The 31-year-old came out firing in the opening round, looking for the knockout by landing a series of power punches. That trend continued throughout the fight, but Shields implemented a new weapon: the body shot. 

Shields ripped Scott's body in the middle of the ring, and in an exchange while she was on the ropes in the fifth round, the two-time Olympic gold medalist uncorked eight consecutive body shots. The investment to the body paid dividends in the sixth round. 

Fearing more body shots were coming, during an exchange, Scott was protecting herself. Shields blasted a short left uppercut. Scott wobbled, and Shields threw a couple of right hands. The Australian stumbled through the ropes for the knockdown.

Smelling blood, Shields pounced on the opportunity to put Scott away. She threw a litany of shots, which was all Scott's corner needed, and threw a couple of towels for good measure. Shields was ecstatic and couldn't hide her excitement in getting the stoppage and putting the boxing world on notice. The 'GWOAT' made it clear when she wants to fight next and had a couple of names she'd like to see standing across from her, with three-belt welterweight champion Lauren Price at the top of the heap.

"If I can get it between December and January," Shields told DAZN's Chris Mannix. "If not, then I'd like a fight against Mikaela (Mayer) or Tamm Thibeault. She's got the other three belts (IBF, WBO, Ring Magazine)."
