Shields reveals preferred next opponent after overpowering Scott

Claressa Shields overcame Kaye Scott with an electrifying sixth-round stoppage to reclaim the WBA and WBC middleweight titles.
After a performance that delighted the Atlanta crowd at State Farm Arena, Shields declared, “I came out here to show why I'm pound-for-pound number one.”
Attention quickly turned to her next opponent, as the American put a timeline on a potential bout with reigning unified welterweight champion Lauren Price, before revealing who else she has in her sights.
“If I can get it in between December and January. If not, I will look to fight against Mikaela [Mayer] or Tamm Thibeault.”
Thibeault (5-0, 3 KOs) turned professional in December 2024, and the Canadian southpaw already holds the IBF, WBO and Ring Magazine middleweight titles.
“She’s got the rest of the three belts. She doesn’t really have that many fights as a professional, but she’s got belts,” Shields said, before zeroing in on one particular strap.
“She’s got a belt that I know belongs to me, and that’s the Ring belt.”
