As the dust settles on Moses Itauma’s first career loss, some of the blame has been placed at the door of Ben Davison, Moses’ trainer.
Moses entered his heavyweight title fight with Filip Hrgovic a massive favourite, and despite making an excellent start, there were visible signs he was struggling with the pace of the fight.
In round nine, Moses’ tank was approaching empty, but he went down fighting as he was rescued by both the referee and the towel of Davison who was watching nervously in the corner.
Moses was beaten, but when the inquest began, Davison appeared to be the main culprit with Moses’ lack of conditioning also questioned.
Since the fight, footage from DAZN has shown Davison fully aware that Moses was putting too much into the fight and he urged his fighter to reduce the pace.

Fabio Wardley , another Davison fighter, endured his first loss back in May when he was stopped by Daniel Dubois in a classic encounter, and similar accusations were thrown at Davison then.
Wardley is currently getting ready to face Dubois for a second time on October 17, but he has leapt to the defence of his coach following a tough few months for Davison.
“It's a lot of unfair criticism,” said Wardley when speaking exclusively to DAZN News.
“He’s always used as the scapegoat. He was used as the scapegoat for my fight. He’s very evidently been used as the scapegoat for Moses’ fight.
“There’s more roles that go into a loss than just the coach. The coach doesn't have autonomy and complete control over the fighter. It’s something I stand heavily on. A lot of the criticism is unfair.”
