Garcia, Benn, Fury and Joshua: Five things to watch this week

The American will bid to mount a successful first defence of his crown as the heavy favourite against the Briton, who arrives seeking an upset.

But the pair are far from the only men set to command column inches as the boxing world rolls closer to autumn, with several others in the mix too.

Here, DAZN News looks ahead to the week in boxing and picks out five key stories that it is worth keeping an eye on over the next seven days.

Garcia ready to defend in style

Having earned his maiden world title against Mario Barrios in Ferbruary, 'Flash' now has the chance to prove he's here to stay at the top.

On paper, Garcia arrives in Nevada widely expected to depart with his hand raised - and he'll hope to showcase the best of his style here.

In practice though, the star will have to put those talents front and centre against an opponent hungry to prove he belongs at the level too.

Benn seeks seismic upset

No bones to be made about it, 'The Destroyer' arrives unfancied in Sin City, save for a few choice allies and a handful of starry backers.

Already facing a punishing cut back to his old weight level after a few years above, Benn will need to pack everything into a box though.

The star will know Garcia is far from infallible. It will be how he can take the fight to him though that may decide his champion qualities.

Opetaia eyes Benavidez shot

Stripped of his IBF cruiserweight title after his Zuffa move earlier this year, Jai Opetaia is attempting to carve a path back to the summit.

The Australian had hoped to claim the WBC crown from Noel Mikaelian on the Garcia-Benn undercard, but the latter is likely to be stripped.

That would tee up the winner for a shot at unified champion David Benavidez in 2027 however - and Opetaia will be determined to earn it.

Fury-Joshua collapse inbound?

After half-a-year of back-and-forth between two of the sport's biggest stars, it appears Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua may not be happening.

With so many parties and backers at loggerheads, the former now appears fed up and prepared to walk away from the whole affair imminently.

It is a bitter blow, but not exactly one out of the blue, with the push to take the clash overseas to America perhaps the straw that broke the camel.

McCann-Big Stacks tops Misfits

Jordan McCann and Big Stacks made a splash before Tommy Fury's fight with Eddie Hall earlier this year after an open workout altercation.

Now, in the former's native Newcastle, they will get the chance to settle things inside the ring as they meet atop the latest Misfits Boxing bill.

Both men suffered defeat in their previous outings, leaving them hungry for success - and they will be determined to get one over the other too.
