Lewis Edmondson can take a massive leap in the light-heavyweight rankings this weekend when he welcomes the vastly experienced Lyndon Arthur to Southampton for one of the most important fights of his career.
Edmondson should've hit the big-time last summer when he produced a brilliant effort against Daniel Lapin at a sold-out Wembley Stadium before narrowly and controversially losing on the scorecards to the heavily hyped Ukrainian.

Now looking to return to winning ways, Edmondson will empty home advantage against Arthur on a huge show headlined by Ryan Garner vs Michael Magnesi at St Mary’s stadium, the home of Southampton FC.
Victory for Edmondson can open doors for further domestic crackers with the light-heavyweight division currently featuring several British fighters in lofty positions all trying to secure future world title opportunities.
One potential spot for another big Edmondson fights is the heavily rumoured event that will see Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren collide in another clash, but this time being 7 vs 7 rather than the 5 vs 5 that took place in 2024.
Hearn’s standout fighters at 175lbs include Callum Smith and Ben Whittaker, and Edmondosn has some history with the latter man
“Anytime. I’ve signed the contract to fight Ben Whittaker before and he just starts f-----g about,” said Edmondson during an exclusive sitdown with DAZN News .
“Loads of time I’ve been messed around so to be honest with you I’m not really interested in Ben Whittaker anymore. They messed us around so much that I can’t even take him seriously. We accepted the fight three or four times when he was with Boxxer, but it never materialised.
“When he’s getting the money he’s getting to fight tin cans, it makes no sense for him financially to come and have dust ups with us boys. I don’t blame him.
“When you first get your licence at the British Boxing Board, they ask you ‘what’s the best fight?’ You tell them world titles and they say, ‘it’s the easiest fight for the most money.’ He’s not going to have wars with me when he can have fights with tin cans.”
