British heavyweight Clarke to fight on Williamson vs. Simpson undercard

On Saturday night, live on DAZN, Clarke will face Lamah Griggs in a six-round contest as he attempts to end a bad run of form as of late. 

Since being knocked out by Fabio Wardley two years ago, Clarke has won just one of his last five fights. 

He last fought in April on the undercard of Tyson Fury vs. Arslanbek Makhmudov against Australia's Justis Huni who won by split decision. 

Clarke will be an overwhelming favourite and is expected to make easy work of Griggs who boasts a record of 3-13-1. 

For Clarke, he needs to look good against Griggs if he is to remain relevant in what is a packed heavyweight division. 

At the age of 35, Clarke does not have much time left when it comes to challenging at the top level and fulfilling the promise which came after he won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. 

A world title challenge could be a step too far for Clarke, but he will no doubt want to at least win the British heavyweight title before he retires. 

However, every time he steps up that level, he has fallen short against Wardley and most recently Jeamie TKV.
