Clarke eyes shift in the wind with critical Huni battle

The British star, a former Lonsdale Belt contender, will bid to reignite his career against the Australian fighter in north London.

Clarke most recently came up short in his British heavyweight title bout against Jeamie TKV by split decision last November.

Huni meanwhile has not fought since he suffered a come-from-behind knockout to Fabio Wardley in Ipswich this past June.

Having led the future WBO world champion for long portions of that contest, the Queenslander is tipped to earn victory here.

But Clarke is keen to show that he still belongs among the current crop, admitting he hopes to sway some minds in the ring.

"I believe in the work that I'm doing," he told Sky Sports News. "I can go and cause the upset because that's what it would be.

"It's not because no one's giving me a chance. Understandably so after my last performance, people judge what they're seeing last.

"I don't need verification, I can see it and I already believe it. I know what I'm capable of when the stars align on that night.

"I'm not going to shock the world, but I just want to change people's opinion.  Winning this fight, I think it elevates me to a really good level."

Frazer Clarke might have been elsewhere on the Tyson Fury-Arslanbek Makhmudov card tonight, perhaps with the Lonsdale Belt.

Instead, the star will hope to put his promise to use against a different operator in Justis Huni, and seize momentum back too.

Clarke has come under fire from some pundits over the years, but let's not forget his gone-the-distance dust-up with Fabio Wardley.

By his own admission, the Tokyo 2020 bronze-medalist knows there are a fair few should-have, would-have, could-have moments.

But now, at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium tonight, he will hope to silence his critics and pick up a blue-chip win for his reputation.
