Heavyweight with 80% knockout ratio who last fought seven years ago reveals the fighter who could make him return

The popular Liverpool heavyweight was one of boxing’s biggest attractions at several points in his career as he sold out many shows in his home city before becoming a vital component of several PPV events during a prosperous period for British boxing. 

On his rise through the rankings, Price appeared to be a certainty to secure heavyweight glory, but two losses to Tony Thompson in 2013 halted his momentum massively. 

Despite more bumps in the road, Price would not be deterred on his quest to land the biggest fights in his division, and he would go through several ups and downs during a career that always entertained.  

The Ring

One name missing from his ledger is that of Tyson Fury as the pair were often linked to a huge showdown following their amateur rivalry where Price was victorious. 

Turning professional three months after Fury, it was widely speculated their careers would run side by side before a major lucrative meeting for the sport’s biggest prizes, but Price was aiming to rebuild his career when Fury became world champion in 2015. 

Although more than content in retirement, Price has admitted to Seconds Out that he would be open to the idea of getting into the ring with Fury if the offer was made. 

“The only fight that would attract me to fight again would be if Tyson Fury got bored in a year or two and said let me fight David Price, but anything else, no, nothing.”
