Ennis hails 'fan-friendly' Whittaker ahead of stateside debut

Jaron Ennis believes Ben Whittaker is a "fan-friendly" fighter like himself, backing him to deliver at light-heavyweight level.
The Briton, who earned a silver medal at Tokyo 2020, has made an unbeaten start to life in the professional ranks so far.
Whittaker will make his stateside debut this month on the undercard of Ennis' own bout against Xander Zayas in New York.
Now, speaking ahead of their shared date with destiny, 'Boots' has professed his respect for his promotional stablemate.

“He's fan-friendly,” he told Matchroom's official social channels. "He's having fun. kind of similar to what I do. [He] has fun.
"[He] puts on a show. I like his style. He’s sharp and smart. He plays around, he goes for the kill when he wants to. That’s me."
Whittaker is seeking to build a case for a possible minor title shot before the end of 2026 after two brutal wins in his last bouts.
Ennis meanwhile is eyeing two-weight champion status when he faces Zayas for his WBA and WBO light-middleweight crowns.
