Taylor retires with Pili win as Ireland cheers Croke Park finale

Following a lengthy run on top, the female trailblazer, the woman who opened the door for so many fighters, sent everyone inside a sold out Croke Park stadium home happy as she dominated her French opponent from the opening bell. 

In a career that spanned a decade, Taylor faced all of boxing’s leading names on both sides of the Atlantic and featured in many memorable battles against huge names such as Natasha Jonas, Amanda Serrano, and Chantelle Cameron. 

Earlier this year, Taylor made it clear that this fight would be her last contest and Irealnd came out for their beloved superstar and they made themselves heard every time Taylor landed a shot.

Following an emotional entrance, Taylor got straight down to business and displayed her famous hand speed to take control straightaway and take the early rounds. 

Despite being second best for large portions, Pili showed her class in the middle rounds as she finally made a breakthrough with some eye-catching shots, but her output couldn't be sustained as the fight reached the final stages. 

After ten rounds, there was no doubt that Taylor was the victor and her final ever win was confirmed as the ringside judges scored for Taylor 100-90 x 2, and 98-91 leading to wild celebrations in Dublin. 

Taylor thanked her fans for following her career from the start and that was echoed by Eddie Hearn who insisted that Taylor placed her gloves in the middle of the ring to confirm her retirement.
