Taylor 'pinching herself' as Croke Park farewell week kicks off

Taylor will not only bid to earn undisputed super-lightweight honours against her unbeaten foe but also realise a major dream.

Speaking at the press conference for her bout in Dublin, the star acknowledged she has had to check herself these past weeks.

'I'm still pinching myself that this is actually happening," she said. "I'm just days away from making my last ringwalk at Croke Park.

"That's an absolute dream to be honest. It's going to be an amazing night for Irish sport, for Irish boxing and for women's sport.

"We can be proud of that as a nation. I'm not sure there's any other country in the world where 80,000 people would turn up for a female athlete.

"I'm blown away by the support. I want to put on a performance worthy of their support over all the years.I'm so grateful."

Taylor insisted she remains focused on Pili despite the nature of the occasion however, crediting her as a "live opponent" to handle.

"It's too dangerous of a sport to have your body in the ring and your heart out of it thinking of retirement," she added on her fight.

"But having a chance to meet icons and headline amazing arenas, and now I get to end my dream career in my dream venue.

"The most important part is that I get my hand raised. It's business as usual. It's going to be a tough fight for sure, but that's where I'm at my best."
