Keys to Victory: Where will Derek Chisora and Deontay Wilder land major damage?
BUY HERE: Chisora vs. Wilder DAZN PPV - TONIGHT

Derek Chisora insists tonight’s bout will be the final fight of his iconic career.

If that indeed pans out to be true, will ‘War’ Chisora end his career on a winning note or flat on his back looking up at the lights? The boxing world will find out tonight when Chisora clashes with knockout artist Deontay Wilder at London’s O2 Arena, and exclusively live on DAZN PPV.

The bout marks the 50th fight for both men, meaning they’ll have 100 professional scraps between them by the night’s end.

The 42-year-old Chisora (36-13, 23 KOs) enters the ring tonight having won three straight fights including the unanimous decision he tendered against Otto Wallin in February 2025. Wilder (44-4-1, 43 KOs) stopped Tyrrell Anthony Herndon in June, but has lost four of his last six fights and three of those defeats have been brutal knockouts.

Will ‘War’ Chisora deliver another memorable moment in his storied career? Or will Wilder, and his near 98-percent knockout ratio, claim his latest victim? With the anticipation reaching a fever pitch, DAZN News analyzes the Keys to Victory for these iconic heavyweights.

Derek Chisora’s Keys to Victory

Close the distance by muscling Wilder around

Derek Chisora is surrendering nine inches of reach to Deontay Wilder, sparking his urgent need to close the distance and get inside of the former WBC heavyweight world champion’s jab.

Friday’s weigh-in had ‘War’ Chisora tipping the scale at 40 pounds heavier than Wilder and the British fighter would be aided in using that mass to muscle and bully ‘The Bronze Bomber’ around the ring.

The more Chisora can lean on Wilder and make the American feel his weight, the more he can possibly fatigue the former champ and smother him against the ropes or in the corner of the ring.

Pointed, pounding body shots will aid Chisora's cause here as well.

Keep a tighter guard

Watch Chisora fight and he has a habit of dropping his guard to chest level. Doing this against Wilder could be disastrous as ‘The Bronze Bomber’ could use his 83 inches of reach to detonate that monstrous right hand, leaving Chisora slumped.

That said, Chisora must be conscious about maintaining a higher, tighter guard to properly and cautiously account for Wilder’s massive right.

Pressure and blast Wilder

Chisora has to celebrate moments he gets inside against Wilder by pressuring and blasting the Tuscaloosa, Alabama native in the phone booth with heavy artillery. This could come in the form of a counter right hook or any offense that Chisora deems fit for the moment.

Crowding Wilder’s space will accelerate Chisora’s target of being victorious in his final fight.

Deontay Wilder’s Keys to Victory

Assert reach advantage

Deontay Wilder touts nine inches of reach advantage and ought to use it in peppering Derek Chisora with a jab in attempt to set up the detonation of that dangerous right hand.

If Wilder is effective from the distance, he can possibly thwart Chisora’s inside pressure long enough to set up that knockout shot with a jab from the outside.

Make use of movement around the ring

Wilder cannot afford to let himself be stuck up against the ropes or squished in the corner. In either spot, Chisora could unload the heavy shots that crumple the American.

Therefore, Wilder must make use of his movement and length to not only set up his offense, but also escape from harm’s way. Strides away from a forward-fighting Chisora could help prevent Wilder from falling into any traps.

Unload that massive right hand

The last thing to leave a veteran fighter is power and Wilder, at 40, still possesses arguably the most destructive weapon in boxing history in that massive right hand.

Wilder’s sweet science skills and overreliance on his right hand have been sources of criticism throughout his career. However, despite opponents fully expecting that right hand, most haven’t been able to stop it from detonating toward chaotic results.

If Wilder can set up the gigantic weapon and land it flush, he could force Chisora’s retirement the hard way. Therefore, one of the greatest knockout artists in boxing history must let that right hand fly early and often.
