She faces a Cameron (22-1, 8 KOs) who became the WBO champ by unanimously defeating Michaela Kotaskova this past April.

Set the tone early with hand speed and accuracy
Mikaela Mayer said it herself during Thursday’s press conference: “I’m going to start quick, start fast, start from round one, not let anything get away from me, and not leave it in the hands of the judges because you can’t always trust the judges.”
Along those lines, the American, fighting on UK soil, would be aided by sharply splitting Chantelle Cameron’s guard from the distance and finding a consistent home with a quick jab. She could then work behind it and bring along the combinations. That said, landing flush from the outside could grease the wheels toward swaying judges’ scorecards.
Time Cameron’s activity for a counterpunch
Cameron loves mashing the dashboard toward forcing phone booth action. Well, Mayer could use that aggression to her own advantage by clocking Cameron’s activity for an apt counterpunch. She has the deep boxing bag to pull the right punch at the right time.
The aforementioned distance she’s able to establish as the better ring operator should only help her cause. Since Cameron often rounds her shoulders while emptying out her arsenal, Mayer should look to deploy a counter uppercut or check hook to stop the Brit’s momentum.

Admiring Mikaela Mayer’s boxing and allowing the American to work her angles from the distance will spell imminent doom for Chantelle Cameron. The WBO super welterweight champ must make it a point to muddy up tonight’s fight by stalking forward and being the aggressor.
After all, that’s partly how she handed the legendary Katie Taylor her only professional loss back in 2023. Similarly, to have true success against Mayer, Cameron must force her way into the pocket and set up permanent residence with smothering action. This might take Cameron eating a jab or two to get there, but it’s what must be done.
Drown Mayer out with volume
With Cameron pressing forward relentlessly, “Il Capo” must be ready and equipped to drown Mayer out with a high volume of punches. Driving up her shot total could help negate Mayer’s surgically slick boxing style with judges leaning toward Cameron’s gritty efforts, instead.
Don’t get erratic in the pocket
I pointed to Mayer’s counterpunching ability and overall sharp style. Well, Cameron will play right into those strengths if she allows herself to get overzealous or too erratic in the pocket. If either scenario occurs, Mayer producing a simple step back and downloading of data could produce the entry point needed to retort with a stinging counterpunch.
Therefore, Cameron must show educated aggression inside to strengthen her chances for the hard-fought win.

I really believe Mikaela Mayer is in a zone and getting better with each of her last performances. What’s standing out to me, in particular, is the American’s ring generalship and diverse punch palette. Mayer is going to need the latter to defeat the steely aggression of a mashing Chantelle Cameron. I think Mayer ekes it out on the road via points with a sharp, slick showing of the sweet science and commanding brokering of her ring real estate.
