Naseem Hamed has been in the mood to speak heavyweights all week after placing himself in London for Moses Itauma’s maiden world title fight against Filip Hrgovic .
The former featherweight champion, a star in both Britain and America, is excited about Moses’ potential and he will join the DAZN broadcast team on Saturday night to witness what could be a high-profile coronation for the heavy-handed 21-year-old.
When an active fighter, heavyweight boxing was going through a golden era that Hamed can recall vividly, and it included numerous superstars including Lennox Lewis, Mike Tyson, and Evander Holyfield.
Hamed was also ringside at the old Wembley Stadium when Frank Bruno recorded his biggest ever win in 1995 when he finally got over the line in a world title fight against Oliver McCall after several failed attempts.
With Moses seemingly next in line to join the likes of Bruno and Lewis as British world champions, who does Hamed believe are Britain's three best heavyweights of all time.
Lewis is universally recognised as one of the heavyweight division's greatest ever fighters, but in recent years, a number of British fighters have captured glory and made themselves household names including Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.
Pushed on his list, Hamed thought hard, and with Lewis coming out on top, who else made the cut for the legendary Sheffield fighter?
“My number one would be Lennox Lewis,” said Hamed when speaking exclusively to DAZN.
“Frank Bruno became world champion the same year that I did so Bruno is up there.
“I go Lennox number one. Tyson Fury number two. So, if we go top three then I go number three. Frank Bruno, Tyson Fury and then Lennox Lewis.”
Watch Moses Itauma take the next step in his unstoppable career against Filip Hrgovic on Saturday, August 29, only on DAZN.
