Here's where the battle will be won and lost between Salas and Saracho

Two all-action Mexican prospects are anticipating a fire fight tonight at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas.

That is where Ricardo Salas and Jesus Saracho will clash in chief support to the Zuffa Boxing card headliner of Jai Opetaia vs. Brandon Glanton.

Salas (22-2-2, 16 KOs) tallied two victories last year, knocking out Kent Cruz in April before fighting Jesus Mauricio Estrada to a majority draw in August. Meanwhile, Saracho (16-2-2, 12 KOs) won his last fights over Joepher Montano and Peter Dobson in May and November, respectively, to bounce back after a draw earlier last year.

During Friday's fight press conference, Salas and Saracho made it clear that they are expecting a war. DAZN News analyzes the Keys to Victory for the anticipated fireworks between these fighters.

Ricardo Salas’ Keys to Victory

Use the catch and shoot

Ricardo Salas utilizes the catch and shoot effectively, absorbing blows only to launch his own pointed offense the other way.

This ability will be crucial against an active puncher in Jesus Saracho.

Salas working the catch and shoot well against Saracho could sap some of the latter’s confidence early. In addition, it could rack up some points for Salas.

Time Saracho for a counter

Salas can use the aforementioned catch and shoot or he could pounce on Saracho within the flow of the fight.

Whatever the case, Salas’ timing for a sharp counterpunch will be crucial in this fight against Saracho.

It is Salas’ best bet to turn Saracho’s own aggression against him and show he is a level above.

Beware of Saracho’s distraction punches

Salas must be vigilant of Saracho’s penchant of setting up his left hand via distraction punches.

His catch-and-shoot skills should help, but even then Salas cannot afford to be lulled into distraction punches only for heavier artillery to be detonated.

Just anticipating this kind of deception should help.

Jesus Saracho’s Keys to Victory

Stand ground to Salas’ pressure

Ricardo Salas is going to pressure and fight forward against Jesus Saracho. The latter’s best way to combat this is by standing his ground with pressure of his own.

Saracho fights off the front foot well enough to provide his own resistance to Salas’ attack.

Doing this effectively, especially early, should have Saracho gaining confidence by the round.

Set up the left hand

Watch Saracho work and it is within his wheelhouse to rake across opponents guard with right hand distraction punches, only to unload a left onto the chin.

Saracho sets up the left hand effectively already. The more deceiving he could be with distraction punches against Salas, the more his upset chances will increase. This involves punching palette creativity that Saracho has and must use.

Unleash the uppercut

When opponents get too close, Saracho does an excellent job backing them up by unleashing a splintering uppercut through their guard.

This weapon should be on the menu tonight for Saracho, the underdog, to boost his upset chances.
