'We've got a date' - Fury provides new update on Joshua showdown

Frustration is the feeling that surrounds this contest as disputes between the two camps may scupper the chances of this showdown ever taking place. 

The biggest issue currently is the venue for the bout after Joshua signed a contract stating that this fight will be taking place which differs from Fury's deal which is more flexible with the location. 

This has led to New York's Madison Square Garden becoming the frontrunner to stage the fight, but as a result, Joshua and his promoter Eddie Hearn will not agree to this stipulation unless certain changes are made to the contract. 

Fury provides update on Joshua fight negotiations

Fury is currently in Miami training for a fight in November which could be against Joshua or another opponent. 

In an interview with journalist Gareth A Davies, Fury revealed a possible date and location for his clash with Joshua, confirming that a November date at Madison Square Garden is the frontrunner.

"We’ve got a date, I believe they are looking at November 20th at Madison Square Garden, and it’s Friday because of the college football or basketball," Fury said. 

Fury then went on to claim that Hearn's ego is getting in the way of making this fight with Joshua a reality due to his rivalry with Dana White before stating that he does not care if this Battle of Britain becomes a reality or falls apart. 

"We’ll see whose ego gets in the way, and I believe it’s Eddie Hearn’s ego.

"I don’t care if this fight happens or it doesn’t, it’s not the be all and end all. I’m not going to lose any sleep about it.

"If it happens fantastic, if it doesn’t happen, also fantastic. If it doesn’t happen in November, I’ll fight someone else."

It appeared that Fury and Joshua were on a collision course after the pair won their respective warm-up bouts against Mariusz Wach and Kristian Prenga. 

However, with November only two months away, a deal needs to be struck, and an announcement needs to be made imminently.

If not, this marquee heavyweight bout is in serious danger of being one of the many fights to have fallen by the wayside despite a deal being close.
