Tyson Fury claims he'll 'move on' from potential Anthony Joshua fight

On Thursday morning, Fury claimed on his Instagram that he's moving on and won't fight Joshua in the all-British clash.

“I’ve waited 10 years for this; I’ve been ready every time. Every single time,” Fury said. “But one thing I won’t be doing is wasting my later years at 38 years old with a freak who don’t want to fight. So I will move on. There are plenty of world champions out there who do want to fight, who do want to make some money, so I’ll be giving them a knock.

“This is going nowhere. As always, 10 years later, still in the same boat. Still dragging on by a mouthpiece, who’s an absolute piece of shit.”

 

For the last decade, Joshua and Fury has been teased but never crossed the line. The closest came in 2021 when the fight was signed, but then Fury lost an arbitration case and had to complete his trilogy in October 2021 with Deontay Wilder. 

Both Joshua and Fury have signed contracts to fight one another this year, with November being the target. However, significant issues have arisen with the location of the fight being the main one. The Joshua side signed a deal to stage the fight in the UK, while it is unknown what kind of contract Fury signed. Team Joshua has remained adamant that Alalshikh lives up to the contract signed by the parties

Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn, has said Alalshikh and Netflix, who would be distributing the event, want the fight to take place at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Friday, November 20. 

An addendum has been sent by Joshua's team to Sela, and as of this time of writing, DAZN News' sources say no agreement has still been reached. Fury claims he's tired of the situation and is moving on to a new opponent.

“The facts are you don’t want to fight,” Fury said. “Because if you did, you’d be ready to rock and roll like I am. Tyson Fury has already said 1,000 times will fight anywhere, no problem at all.

“Turki Alalshikh has paid you tens of millions to fight, and you’re still acting like little bitches. It is what it is. There’s nothing I can do. I can’t make a coward fight, can I? At the end of the day, you’ve showed your true colors. If A.J. was any sort of man, he’d overrule the sausage [Eddie Hearn], and he’d stand up and fight, but obviously he’s not. That’s where we are. Good luck to you. One thing for sure is I won’t wait for a sausage who’s been knocked spark out by Daniel Dubois.”

The is or isn't of this fight is starting to drag on a bit in the eyes of many. I like it as it does build more intrigue. Should the fight happen in the UK? One hundred percent. There's no reason for it not to be. That would be like when Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield's first fight was announced in 1991 and the location would have been Wembley Stadium instead of Las Vegas. 

An all-British showdown for the ages between two of the biggest stars in the country's rich boxing history belongs in the country and one of the world's iconic stadiums. 

Will it happen in the UK? IF the fight happens, I believe so, but only because of Joshua and Hearn. Fury will fight anywhere for the right amount of money. That's all that matters to him which is his right. For Joshua, this is his love letter to England, who have stuck by him through the downs of his career.
