It means the biggest all-British domestic bout of a generation will take place overseas, ending a prolonged period of uncertainty.

The destination and date of the fight have been one of the leading stories of the year, played out in a slew of protracted arguments.

Zuffa supremo Dana White and Matchroom Boxing boss Eddie Hearn have clashed multiple times over the details of the clash.

Fury and Joshua, meanwhile, fought tune-up bouts on opposite sides of the world in July against Mariusz Wach and Kristian Prenga.

For the thousands - nay, millions - of fight fans back home across the North Atlantic though, the move to New York City is a depressing blow.

Hopes of a glorious night with close to six figures at Wembley Stadium - noise, blood, thunder, the whole sandwich - are now dust in the wind.

If any rematch comes to pass, it must come home. Anything less could be - perhaps rightly - considered a travesty and tragedy for British boxing.
