Riley's next opponent and fight date confirmed by promoter Sauerland

This news was confirmed by his promoter Kalle Sauerland when speaking to DAZN News' Eze Obasi. 

Riley won the European title in April when he beat veteran Mateusz Masternak on the undercard of Derek Chisora-Deontay Wilder in a coming-of-age performance. 

A world title opportunity felt inevitable for Riley, and after Jai Opetaia was forced to vacate the IBF world cruiserweight title after signing with Zuffa Boxing, the British star is set for a shot at the famous red and gold belt.

When it comes to who Riley will face, Sauerland revealed it will be Australia's David Nyika.

The 31-year-old boasts a 13-1 (10 KOs) record and beat Floyd Mason by unanimous decision earlier this month, and Sauerland is hoping this fight will take place in the autumn. 

"Our very own, MF Pro star Viddal Riley will be fighting next for the IBF cruiserweight championship of the world against David Nyika," Sauerland said.

"Negotiations have begun; we’re very excited about that fight being confirmed and taking place next Autumn.

"This will be the first one who has become a world champion since the launch of MF Pro, which is very exciting. I’ll need to double-check this, but I think this will be my 50th world champion."

Sauerland then continued to shower Riley with praise, singling out his professionalism in the crazy world of boxing.

"Behind the scenes he’s just such a professional; he just gets on with business. He’s not the over-emotional type; he knows the job at hand.

"I think we can roll in October, November; it’ll be down to the IBF negotiations."

Whoever becomes IBF cruiserweight champion could end up positioning themselves for a big payday against David Benavidez, who currently holds the WBA and WBO belts and is considered one of the world's best pound-for-pound fighters.
