He faces a 38-year-old Masternak (50-6, 33 KOs) who counts more than four times the fights in experience than Riley. The Polish fighter is riding a three-fight win streak, last defeating Joel Tambwe Djeko by seventh-round KO in October.

That said, the aforementioned fighters in Billam-Smith, Dorticos and Bellew all found remedies to Masternak’s style before moving onto bigger and better opportunities and Riley seems hell-bent on achieving the same.

There is urgency that the British fighter has, knowing a statement win over Masternak can inch him one step closer to vying for a world title at cruiserweight.

Riley seems to be heading into this co-feature spot with a calm self-assurance about him — enough to eke out the nod in mental warfare.
