Which heavyweight prospect can be the next Anthony Joshua or Tyson Fury?

Originally possessing dreams of becoming a professional footballer, Fabio Wardley had no interest in boxing as a youngster. After experimenting with the sport through White Collar events, Wardley was a natural and the switch to professional boxing came shortly after. 

Now guided by Dillian Whyte, Wardley has emerged as one of British boxing’s brightest heavyweight hopes with a number of impressive wins. With domestic titles firmly in his sights, Can Wardley emulate his manager and aim even higher? 

Alen Babic 

Another fighter with Dillian Whyte is Alen Babic. The Croatian heavyweight has been a menacing addition to the heavyweight mix and his relentless, all-action style has been well received since basing his career on British soil. 

With vital experience still required before moving up in level, Babic doesn’t appear to have the patience to see out his apprenticeship. He’s identified Filip Hrgovic, his countryman, as a potential opponent in what would be a huge fight for Croatian boxing. 

Frankie Sanchez 

Trained by the brilliant Eddy Reynoso, Frankie Sanchez is surrounded by winners in his gym including Canelo Alvarez, Ryan Garcia, and Andy Ruiz. The Cuban heavyweight has demonstrated a brilliant skillset in his career so far but he’s fully aware that bigger tests lie ahead. 

Scheduled to face Nigeria’s Efe Ajagba on the undercard of Tyson Fury’s third meeting with Deontay Wilder, can Sanchez prove to a big audience that he has what it takes to be a major player in the heavyweight division? 

Tony Yoka 

The face of French boxing has made a brilliant start to his pro career but how far away is Tony Yoka from competing for titles? Despte missing a year of his career due to doping violations, Yoka is still on course to fulfil his potential following a glittering amateur career. 

A gold medallist at the Rio Olympics in 2016, Yoka entered the pro game with huge expectations placed on his broad shoulders. So far, the talented Parisian has dealt with all questions asked of him but bigger tests lie ahead for Yoka and it’ll be worth monitoring how well he deals with them.  

Jared Anderson 

Promoted by Top Rank, Jared Anderon is creating a small buzz in America as he looks to emulate the great heavyweights produced by his country in years gone by. Anderson enjoyed some amateur success at domestic level, but he’s saved his best for the professional code with nine straight stoppage victories. 

Due to take on Russia’s Vladimir Tereshkin on October 9th, Anderson has a huge opportunity to demonstrate his credentials at heavyweight. Does America have a new superstar in the heavyweight division? We’ll know the answer soon enough.
