Connor McDavid scores 400th career goal, 1,200 points in Oilers win

McDavid scored the 400th goal of his career to give the Oilers the lead and then scored an empty-netter for his 1,200th career point, to extend their lead, which resulted in a 5-2 win over the Utah Mammoth.

"Goal scoring is something that has not come easy to me," McDavid said after the game to a group of reporters. "It's something that I work at, something that I focus on. I set a goal at the beginning of the year: trying to shoot more pucks."

The three-time NHL MVP became only the fifth player in Oilers history to reach 400 goals. And with the latter goal, McDavid became the third-quickest player in league history to reach 1,200 points behind Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux. 

"It's a big number, obviously, and I feel like I got a lot of great years ahead of me still, which is exciting," McDavid said. "These milestones are just a nice time to reflect, and I'm just very grateful to have played with so many great players."
