Edmonton Oilers re-sign Connor Murphy to lucrative five-year contract

The Edmonton Oilers are bringing a key piece of their defensive structure.
On Monday, the Oilers signed pending free agent defenseman Connor Murphy to a highly lucrative five-year contract worth $20.5 million.
The 14-year veteran came over to the Oilers at the trade deadline from the Chicago Blackhawks. In his short time in Edmonton, Murphy registered one goal and three assists, with an average of 20:26 per game of ice time on the second line beside Darnell Nurse.
Coming into the 2026-27 NHL regular season, Murphy just needs two goals to reach 50 for his career.
