NHL Stanley Cup Playoff Results: Hurricanes win thriller, Oilers win Game 1

In an instant classic, the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, the Carolina Hurricanes, had to go to double overtime but were saved by forward Jordan Martinook's goal at the 13:53 mark of the second OT to defeat the eighth-seeded Ottawa Senators 3-2. The Hurricanes are now up 2-0 in the series.

The Philadelphia Flyers, led by 19-year-old sensation Porter Martone's goal at the beginning of the second period, propelled them to a 3-0 victory over state rival, the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Flyers lead the series 2-0. 

The Edmonton Oilers began their run towards a third consecutive Stanley Cup Final appearance with a gritty 4-3 win over the Anaheim Ducks to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Kasperi Kapanen led the charge for the Oilers with two goals, including the game-winner with 1:54 left in the game.
