We are in the second full week of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, with three teams now clinching spots to the conference semifinals. You can watch every game of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs live on DAZN (excl. US and Canada).
The third team advanced to the second round in the Eastern Conference on Thursday night as Cam York scored his first career playoff goal on the 74th and final shot of the game between the two teams to give the Philadelphia Flyers a 1-0 victory in overtime over arch-rival Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Flyers will face the Carolina Hurricanes, who swept the Ottawa Senators, in Round 2 at a time and date yet to be determined.
Vegas wins another high-scoring affair
For the second consecutive game, the Vegas Golden Knights and Utah Mammoth lit up the ice and needed extra time to determine a winner. And it was Vegas who got the job done yet again with Brett Howden nailing the game-winner 5:28 into the second overtime to give the Golden Knights a 5-4 victory. The Golden Knights now lead the series 3-2.
Things looked to be well in hand for the Mammoth. They were up 4-3 with a minute to go. In a drop of a hat, Pavel Dorofeyev scored his third goal of the game to even it up and send it to overtime, where the Golden Knights got the victory for the second consecutive game in the extra session.
Game 6 is on Friday night in Salt Lake City, Utah, with the Golden Knights having a chance to close things out.
Canadiens move closer to series win
Alexandre Texier broke a 2-2 tie just 1:06 into the third period, and the Montreal Canadiens held on for the remainder of the final stanza to give them a 3-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Canadiens are now up 3-2 in the series.
Montreal has a chance to close out the series on home ice in Game 6 on Friday night.
