
With the league phase draw in the books, the 2026-27 UEFA Champions League proper can now get underway.
Thursday's draw showed the roadmap for the 36 teams taking part in this year's league phase, with some sides drawing tougher matches than others.
While no Champions League match is easy, the road to success certainly appears more daunting for some of the contestants.
Here are the five teams that drew the strongest opposition.
There are no easy outs, but based on the current UEFA club coefficients these are the teams who drew the strongest set of opponents in the upcoming league phase:

Opponents: Real Madrid (H), Bayern Munich (A), B. Dortmund (H), Betis (A), Lille (H), Napoli (A), Sabah (H), Slavia Praha (A)
Average coefficient: 81.1
The Gunners won all of their league phase matches in last year's competition and rode that momentum all the way to the final, where they lost out on penalties to PSG.
Their reward for such a monumentous run? The toughest draw in this season's competition. With opponents like Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Napoli among the murderer's row Arsenal must face, repeating their impressive feat from the previous campaign will prove a massive challenge.

The Heliopolitanos' fixture list is only marginally easier than that of Arsenal, and the Spanish side will actually host the Gunners as one of the several giants they'll need to slay to make an improbable run to the knockouts.

Any schedule that features Real Madrid is a tough one, but Inter will also face down recent Champions League winners Liverpool, Belgian champs Club Brugge and Ukrainian table toppers Shakhtar.

Away matches at two-time Champions League holders PSG, Manchester United and Fenerbahce, along with a home test against Real Madrid? Roma will need to be at the top of their game throughout the league phase.

The Austrian side are one of the lowest-ranked sides in this year's competition, and they'll run a league phase gauntlet that includes Real Madrid, Liverpool, Porto, and a trip to the Arctic Circle to face last season's Champions League darlings, Bodø/Glimt.
