Christos Tzolis earns rave reviews from manager, teammates after glittering Arsenal debut

It was a great day to be an Arsenal supporter, but Sunday was even better for Christos Tzolis.
The 24-year-old joined the Gunners in a £34 million transfer from Club Brugge last month, and in his official debut for the club, the Greece international registered two assists as Arsenal ran over Manchester City en route to a 3-0 victory in the Community Shield.
Tzolis was instrumental in a ruthless Arsenal attack, setting up Kai Havertz's 28th-minute goal with a redirected header before setting the table for Martin Odegaard's superb 48th-minute strike. The left-winger probably could have had another assist or two if not for timely interventions by the Man City defence, and he showed a seamless integration into the Gunners' front three that drew praise from manager Mikel Arteta after the match.
"I think how naturally he has accommodated in the squad," Arteta told TNT Sports. "His level of understanding - he is a player that he make the right decision when a lot of people rushes and make the wrong decisions.
"He is very smart and accurate. Today in tight spaces he made the right decision twice, and we scored two goals [because of it]."
The game's first goal was scored by left-back Riccardo Calafiori inside the first 30 seconds, with Myles Lewis-Skelly's sublime pass sending the Italian alone on countryman Gianluigi Donnarumma in the Man City net.
And although Tzolis was not directly involved in his goal, Calafiore was still straight to the point when assessing his new teammate's impact on Sunday's match, stating: "Christos was one of the best players on the pitch today."
