The Premier League campaign is just around the corner, but before the action gets underway, 2026-27 will open with the season's curtain-raiser, the Community Shield.
This year's affair will be between Arsenal and Manchester City at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium on August 16th.
Arsenal held off Manchester City to win their first Premier League title for 22 years, whilst City beat Chelsea in the FA Cup final, winning it for the eighth time to set up this latest chapter in the teams'Â recent rivalry.Â
Ahead of the clash, DAZN News have picked out some of the classic Community Shield matches to get you ready for the start of the season.
Manchester City pipped Liverpool to the Premier League title by a single point in the season prior, but it was the Reds who came out on top in this one.
Due to Wembley hosting the Women's Euro 2022 final, the match was held at Leicester's King Power Stadium.
All the talk leading up to the match was all about big-money summer signings Darwin Núñez and Erling Haaland and who would make the biggest impact on their debuts.Â
Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah both bagged for Liverpool, with Julian Alvarez scoring for City.
But it was Darwin Núñez who came off the bench to score in stoppage time to wrap up the match for Liverpool.
Think it's fair to say Núñez won the battle but not the war.

The 1974 Charity Shield, as it was known then, is not remembered for the quality of football but instead as an ill-tempered affair.
Strong challenges and continuous brawling throughout the match came to a climax when Kevin Keegan and Billy Bremner were both given their marching orders for a bout of fisty-cuffs between them.Â
Both sides had new managers at the helm after Don Revie left Leeds for the England job and Bill Shankly retired after 15 years in charge of Liverpool.
Shankly's assistant Bob Paisley took charge of Liverpool for the first time, going on to lead them to great success, and Brian Clough started his ill-fated reign at Leeds, which would only last 44 days.
Phil Boersma opened the scoring for Liverpool before Trevor Cherry levelled for Leeds, taking the game to penalties.
In the end it Liverpool came out as victors in the shootout after Leeds goalkeeper David Harvey skied his penalty in sudden death, but all the alluring images from the game is the iconic scrap between the two footballing legends.Â

Another classic between these two great names.Â
The 1992 edition was a goalfest, with one enigmatic Frenchman stealing the headlines.
Eric Cantona scored a hat-trick as Leeds won the Shield, and no individual has scored three goals in this fixture since.
Tony Dorigo got the other for Leeds, with Ian Rush and Dean Saunders scoring for the Reds, along with an own goal from Leeds substitute Gordon Strachan.
Leeds were the last side to appear in the Shield as Football League champions before the Premier League rebrand, and are yet to make an appearance since in this fixture.

Arguably the greatest Community Shield comeback in the history of the fixture.Â
Manchester City found themselves two up and cruising at half-time with goals from Joleon Lescott and Edin Džeko. But the second half was all about Nani.
Chris Smalling first pulled one back before minutes later a flowing United move saw Nani bring the Red Devils level.
In the fourth minute of stoppage time, the Portuguese winger was through on goal, rounded Joe Hart and slotted home, sending the red end of Wembley into raptures.
One of the great Manchester derbies.

Carlo Ancelotti started off his Chelsea tenure with silverware in a thrilling match which had goals, penalties and late drama.
Nani opened the scoring from range early on before goals from Ricardo Carvalho and Frank Lampard put Chelsea ahead.
With Chelsea minutes away from victory, Wayne Rooney levelled the scores, and after a goalless extra time the match went to penalties.
Manchester United won a shootout in this fixture a year prior in the Champions League final, but this time Chelsea came out on top.
Petr ÄŒech saved spot-kicks from Patrice Evra and Ryan Giggs whilst Chelsea converted all four of their own, with Salomon Kalou scoring the winning kick.
