Enzo Fernandez makes Man City debut after late issue for Nico O’Reilly
Enzo Fernandez made his Manchester City debut from the start in Saturday’s Premier League clash with Coventry due to a problem for Nico O’Reilly.
City’s new £125million record signing was initially named among the substitutes four days after his big-money move from Chelsea.
But O’Reilly suffered a problem during the warm-up at the Etihad Stadium, with the England international heading down the tunnel appearing to hold his back.
That saw Fernandez promoted to a starting line-up that already included fellow deadline-day arrival Iliman Ndiaye – who took the place of Phil Foden in the only other change from Friday’s 4-1 win at Crystal Palace.
City made Fernandez, 25, the joint most expensive signing in Premier League history to complete a midfield makeover following the departures of Rodri and Bernardo Silva this summer.
