Haaland started on the bench for Manchester City in their 3-1 win over Newcastle United in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final on Wednesday, with Omar Marmoush stepping into the starter's role and scoring twice in the victory.

Now, City prepare for a massive Premier League clash on Sunday as they are set to visit Anfield for a match against Liverpool, and Guardiola will not commit to putting Haaland in the starting XI.

“Always I said, Erling is the best striker in the world,” the Man City manager said at a press conference on Thursday. “I don’t know [if he will start]. We will see tomorrow. Always, I say Erling is the best.”
