Canada vs. Morocco preview: Team news and how to watch World Cup match

It's a repeat of the a group stage match from 2022 as Canada and Morocco face off in the round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup.
In their previous meeting, the teams met on the final group stage matchday in Qatar, with the Moroccans earning a 2-1 victory. Since then, both nations have improved their relative standing in the world's game, although it's the North African side who have really shot up the charts as they started this tournament ranked sixth in the world.
That makes the Canadians massive underdogs, and they'll look to continue their strong defensive play and opportunistic scoring in they are to have a chance in this match.
As for Morocco, they are expected to win, which brings a different set of pressures. The Atlas Lions are undefeated in 36 games, a remarkable streak that stretches back to to 2024, and win No. 37 would put them into the quarter-finals.

Don't expect too many changes to the starting XI for the Canadians, although a slight formation shift may be in order. The biggest question mark is up front, as Jesse Marsch could swap Cyle Larin into the lineup in place of Tani Oluwaseyi.

Morocco
The Moroccans played 120 minutes plus penalties in their most recent match, and with one fewer day of rest than the Canadians it could mean a fatigue-based change or two in the starting lineup. Either way, there won't be wholesale changes.
